The 13th annual Webby Awards received over 9,000 entries from over 60 countries. Winners are chosen by the International Academy of Digitals Arts and Sciences, a global organization whose members include David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Vinton Cerf, and Biz Stone. Doodle is a honoree in the Services & Applications category and was chosen by the jury for its “remarkable achievement” and the “outstanding caliber of work”.

Doodle is Red Herring Global 2008 Finalist

Two days ago, the jury officially determined the list of the Red Herring Global 2008 Finalists. It is composed of companies from four continents and over 25 nations. Technology industry executives, investors, and observers regard the Red Herring 100 lists as an invaluable instrument to discover and advocate the promising startups that will lead the next wave of disruption and innovation. Past award winners include Google, Yahoo!, Skype, Netscape, Salesforce.com, and YouTube.

Doodle was also nominated for the Technology Award but we didn’t get the prize. Anyway, we got a nice logo to share with you. The Swiss business weekly Handelszeitung published a portrait about the nine nominees. “Simplicity as a business model” is the title of the Doodle portrait.

Tonight, the winners of the SwissICT Award 2008 were announced in Lucerne. We were awarded the Public Award, which is a special honor because the winner in this category is determined by the readers of Infoweek rather than a jury. This is in line with our constant effort to provide a user-centered, easy-to-use service.
