The 13th annual Webby Awards received over 9,000 entries from over 60 countries. Winners are chosen by the International Academy of Digitals Arts and Sciences, a global organization whose members include David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Vinton Cerf, and Biz Stone. Doodle is a honoree in the Services & Applications category and was chosen by the jury for its “remarkable achievement” and the “outstanding caliber of work”.
The Open Web Awards is an international online voting competition that covers major innovations in web technology and honors the top achievements of websites and services. Other winners include Netlog, Google, and ShareThis. We are very proud because, in addition to this people’s choice award, we also won the blogger’s choice. Thank you all for voting for us! Doodle was also nominated for the Technology Award but we didn’t get the prize. Anyway, we got a nice logo to share with you. The Swiss business weekly Handelszeitung published a portrait about the nine nominees. “Simplicity as a business model” is the title of the Doodle portrait.
Tonight, the winners of the SwissICT Award 2008 were announced in Lucerne. We were awarded the Public Award, which is a special honor because the winner in this category is determined by the readers of Infoweek rather than a jury. This is in line with our constant effort to provide a user-centered, easy-to-use service.
Little more than one month ago we launched the Doodle Facebook application. Facebook recently announced the winners of their German application contest: Doodle won the 1st prize!
